Random Thoughts of the Day (10/19/10)
This theme of “productivity” seems to be continuing nicely.
Had to drive into Boston today to take care of some arrangements for an upcoming party. Traffic wasn’t too bad, but taking my mother along for the ride was a nightmare. She has what I call the “wet noodle syndrome” in that every time you make a turn, she sways and flops limply around, as if she lacks any muscles to stabilize herself. She complains if you go over a bump, and if you swerve to avoid the bumps. Literally thought about crashing just to get some quiet.
Came home and decided my car needed a wax before it got too late (cold) in the year to do so. Broke out my stuff and went at it. Two hours and a wash later, the car looks exactly the same. I’m hesitant to use any power tools, and the paint was already in pretty good condition, so I’m not too surprised.
I sat down and checked Yelp and got a nice little surprise, an email congratulating me on my 2010 Elite status. Basically, if you write enough reviews and do enough stuff on Yelp, they reward you by giving you “Elite” status. This entitles you to go to some free events during the year, and makes you seem mildly more important than those without the “Elite” status. It doesn’t really mean a lot in the end, but it was something I’ve been trying for, and I’m glad I got it. It won’t mean a lot until I can get the counterpart an Elite status as well (fake ID maybe).
Tomorrow is some more driving and hopefully a few errands.
