For those of you that may not have heard the good news yet, Nikon has released an upgrade firmware for both the D3 and D700 cameras.  They can be found at the Nikon USA Website.  Listed improvements include improved focus speed in the “C” mode.  I have installed both the A and B firmware packs on my D3 and have seen somewhat noticeable speed increases.  Overall update took about 5 minutes and went through with no problems.  I haven’t heard of any major issues with it yet after about 2 weeks, so it’s probably a safe bet at this point.
